LeafDeck
PDF tools built around privacy: documents are processed on your device, not uploaded.
Visit projectDraft analysis: written from my notes, not yet reviewed. Nothing below claims validation that hasn’t happened.
The idea
A PDF workspace where documents never leave the device: merge, split, sign, redact and organise, designed for people who handle sensitive paperwork every week.
Problem
Contracts, payslips and medical records get uploaded to random servers just to be merged or signed.
Target
Freelancers, small offices, accountants, HR: anyone handling documents with personal data, especially in the EU.
Why now
GDPR awareness, growing distrust of uploading documents, and browsers powerful enough to do the work locally.
Business model
Free core tools. Paid workflows (batch, redaction, templates) as a one-time purchase or subscription.
MVP
Local merge, split, sign and redact, with visible proof that files never leave the device (it keeps working offline).
Validation needed
Does privacy make people switch from the tool they already use? Which single workflow is worth paying for?
Risks
Competing with the big PDF brands. Proving privacy credibly. PDF edge cases that eat weeks.
What I’m looking for
- People who handle sensitive documents daily
- PDF and WebAssembly developers
Next action
Ask ten people who handle sensitive documents which one workflow they would pay to keep local, and build that one first.
Brutal verdict
The sharp version of a crowded idea. It works only if the privacy promise is provable and the paid workflow is specific.
